F.A.Q. – Frequently Asked Questions
Who are we?
Nubes is a publishing house that brings together professionals who are passionate about the ancient world and publishes graphic novels and books on the classical world in Italian, Latin, and Ancient Greek.
What do we do?
We publish books and comics with historical or mythological themes, in Italian and/or Latin or Greek, in print and digital formats.
We create graphic novels, novels, and short stories for those who love great reading, ancient culture, and ancient languages. And yes, in that exact order: first and foremost, we aim to offer engaging reads with captivating plots, brought to life by high-quality writing and artwork of unquestionable artistic merit.
These are not “educational” stories built around a lesson, but authentic plots born and developed from an idea. We follow the rules of fine writing and narrative theory to bring you stories worth reading.
The historical and archaeological context is a cornerstone for making the narrated events credible, and we pride ourselves on paying close attention to this aspect thanks to our collaboration with scholars, archaeologists, and popular science writers such as Marco Cappelli, Emanuele Viotti, Marco Cecini, Diego Serra, and Silvio Costa.
For those who choose to read our books in Latin or Greek, the immersive experience is complete. Those who want to read for escapism can travel to another era. Those who want to read something beautiful but also learn something new can do so… while traveling to another era.
Until about a year ago, we also published our texts in English and French, but surprisingly, right now the only active and receptive market is for ancient languages. However, our older publications still include an English version.
Who handles the translations of your texts into ancient languages?
We have a group of trusted and highly qualified scholars who are not only skilled in ancient languages but also able to recognize and honor their vitality, such as Stefano Vittori, Marina Garanin, Salvatore Bellavia, Rossano Fragale, and Jacopo Rubini.
Who does the artwork?
We collaborate with various professional artists, some of whom are internationally renowned, because every story has its own style. Many of them trained at the Scuola Romana del Fumetto, where Francesco Vacca also teaches scriptwriting.
Where can I find your books/comics?
In our online shop, on our website in Italian and English. Currently, we use Lulu, which allows us to keep shipping costs low through print-on-demand. So you don’t have to worry about customs duties. As long as we’re able to, we’ll continue shipping our historical stories all over the world. Digital versions are always available as well.
How can I stay updated on your new releases?
Sign up for our newsletter! We send only 5–10 emails a year, in Italian and English, only when we have something to share with you. So it’s definitely worth opening them!
We’re also active on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube: in addition to liking our posts, be sure to click “Follow,” or we’ll get lost in the vast sea of social media.
We don’t run sponsored ads—just organic, high-quality content, crafted one by one and scheduled monthly.
